One of my favorite things to do in Wilmington, NC is take in a beach sunset. But there are three things you need to know before you go.
It's a $2 fee to watch the beach sunset in Wrightsville Beach, off of the Pier.
The tide is very high.
You can't see the sun actually setting from the beach.
Why does Wrightsville Beach charge a fee to go on the Pier?
It's 2021!!! So much is going on financially for everyone & all you want to do is get out of your home & watcha beautiful sunset. Why would the beach charge to walk on a pier? In the fall & winter months "off season", it is free to park at Wrightsville beach. But now they are finding out other ways to charge fees. It's important to know this before you go.

HIGH TIDE
The tide is very high during the sunset at the Wrightsville Beach. We planned to put out a blanket & enjoy the view but the water was rising quickly. We deiced to stand just like everyone else. The air is just so nice & crisp & the sound of the ocean waves is always beyond relaxing.
Beach Sunset in Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington, NC
Wrightsville Beach is an east facing beach, off the east coast of America. Because of it's location, the sun is setting in the west, which is behind the beach. There are beach houses blocking the sun as it's coming down. So, it's best to watch from the bridge that leads you in as you're driving. There's one on each side. If you try to watch it from the beach, you'll miss it. But you could always catch a lovely sunrise instead. We took a stroll through the neighborhood to capture this beauty...
Stay say everyone!
